It was Saturday morning. A storm was raging outside. My partner and his 92-year-old mother were sitting by the fireplace, and I felt an irresistible urge to paint. I didn't have my own studio back then, so I found the perfect painting environment in my bedroom. After a while, I felt it was time to rest, to observe the process of watercolors bonding to the paper. Besides, I had doubts about whether this painting was worth anything. You usually don't know that until the paper dries. So I went downstairs and asked for their opinion. Their reaction completely surprised and delighted me. They even reinforced my belief that the painting was finished. Now, years later, it's one of my favorites. Isabel is gone, but the memory remains.
