I was invited to a two-week plein air painting session in Dobrzyce.
Of course, I went eagerly. It's not every day that you get the opportunity to be accommodated in the chambers of the manor house in Winna Góra, where General Karol Świerczewski spent the last years of his life.
Each of us, ten participants, received two large canvases. We were taken around the surrounding palaces and manor houses, some in ruins. Our task was to capture these monuments on canvas. I chose the palace in Kromolice, worn by time and beautifully integrated into nature. And it was precisely this, perhaps for this reason, that captivated me the most. After returning, I painted for many days (using acrylics in a watercolor-like manner), walked through the manor house's beautiful park, ate with all the painters in the enormous dining room, and marveled at the adventure I had embarked on. Only, sometimes at night, I felt a little spooky. The enormous bedroom, with windows overlooking the park, where the trees swayed dramatically in the wind, provided space for imagination. Or perhaps it was my sensitivity, sensing the spirits of the people who once lived there?

At the end of our stay, we participated in an exhibition of our work. This open-air workshop was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me.
